Brooklyn Navy Yark
'Breaking Lab' is a proposal for the 2014 Smart Dock ONE Prize Competition.
The proposal works at three scales: the CITY, the BUILDING, and the TEAM. Inspired by the form and structure of Building 128 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the iconic figure is translated into a formal language related to each scale. At the City scale, it is a dispersed network of visual identifiers. At the Building scale, it is an inserted architectural object to perform as social condenser and event venue intended to operate as a focal object within the overall space. At the Team scale, the object breaks apart into smaller parts to accommodate the programmatic needs of the collaborative workspace.
