Description of the publication

To practice research by design through obsessive documentation, exploratory representations, and prospective imaginations is to make an inventory of one’s subject. Acting as both documentation and invention, the inventory collects, questions, and assembles specific aspects of meticulously observed conditions in order to give presence to the investigated reality and give it new meaning. Inventories, Documentation as a Design Project, gathers 18 international researchers who reflect on the role of documentation and its deployment as a project in the investigation of the built environment. In light of today’s comlexities, each inventory raises the necessity for the transversal perspective of design and for undiscilinarity as an epistemological position.
